Almost every major city has a Food Truck Festival!  Now the food truck explosion comes to Hartford at Riverfront Recapture’s annual Riverfest. This three-day event will feature some of the best mobile culinary cuisine in the region accompanied by live entertainment, family fun, and of course spectacular fireworks!

Check out the full schedule and entertainment lineup here.

In case you didn't know, Monday- Friday, the Elm Street (and Pump House) side of Bushnell park is lined with food trucks!  The options are unlimited and is a super cool place to try some new, or even old favorites in downtown Hartford.  If you happen to be in downtown Hartford during the day support these awesome food trucks.

The Hartford Girl here, happy to share news that came at a wonderful time for those who live, work and play in Hartford.  Siam Hartford (which was formerly known as Tamarind Grill) is now opened!  The previous owner decided to close this location in an attempt to lessen her burden of running three restaurants and caring for her family.  While Tamarind Grill was one of my favorite restaurants in downtown Hartford, I understand and respect the need to downsize and prioritize family and sanity. Siam Hartford is the next best thing. They’re officially open, have kept mostly all of the previous décor and the food is delicious. There’s a bar and dining room for eat-in, but you can also order to go.  I enjoyed the Salmon dinner which was finger licking good!  Give them a go. It was a great place to have lunch on a Sunday afternoon in Downtown, Hartford.

Siam is a Thai restaurant located 77 Pratt Street downtown Hartford. They're phone number is 860-727-1088.

The Hartford Girl has made its way to one of Hartford's surrounding towns, and the stop is none other than Nora’s Cupcakes!  For the past year, I’ve seen their logo posted on so many awesome event photos, I have tried cupcakes from their mobile cupcake truck and now I  have the opportunity to work with them for my upcoming 6th Annual Strut 4 Autism Fashion Show & Silent Auction on April 18th.  This Shop is way cool!  It not only features their tasty treats, but its a gallery for artists to especially showcase their work. Like myself, the community holds a very special place in Nora’s Cupcakes heart and I’m so thrilled to be able to feature this location on Hartford Girl and I strongly recommend that you visit them too.

If you’re around on April 18th, please join me at my most special event of the year, Strut 4 Autism!  There will be a cupcake bar created by Nora’s Cupcakes!  Enjoy a few trips from my super fun (and sweet)treat!

By day and night I’m a pescetarian.  It’s been about 4 years of a meat free diet for me, but I’m in the 5% population of humans who chooses to be meat-with-feet free.  So, I’m biased of course, but that isn’t the case for many of you.  One of the latest additions to downtown Hartford is Bear's Smokehouse, and this cool meat lovers Wing Wednesday's feature happens every week. Here’s what they have to say:

Every Wednesday Bear's Smokehouse BBQ has 50 cent wings. Smoked, delicious, tasty, yummy wings for 50 cents each. Do the wing math, and call in your order. Or, go in and order the Paw Paw Poutin. SO GOOD.”

Location: 89 Arch St. Hartford, CT. 06103. Visit Bear's Smokehouse website here!

I’ll likely begin many of my local-to-downtown-Hartford EAT features with “one of my favorites,” and it’ll be true each time. This time I’m featuring Hot Tomato’s, and it is definitely one of my favorites! The food is great, the service is awesome, and their patio during the spring and summer months is fab and oh-so-cozy. There’s always a live band, which adds to the ultimate dining experience. The next time I’ll be at Hot Tomato’s is Friday 2/6 for an amazing lineup of live music.
Join me, and read more this in my “Live Music? Yes, Please!” feature here.

My first post on Hartford Girl is one that means so much to me! Besides the fact that this tasty caffeinated beverage is an occasional seasonal fav, the place it was created is where the concept behind Hartford Girl was initiated! With the support of a few special individuals in my life and Jojo's complimentary wifi, I was able to launch Hartford Girl! Jojo's is a brick or mortar coffee shop located on Pratt Street in the capitol city, downtown Hartford.

Jojo's is nestled on Pratt Street downtown Hartford and is a must try! Want to pay them a visit? Check out their detailed listing in the Hartford Girl black book here!
